Students from UFRJ, a partner participating in the EUBBC Digital project, have started the 2nd semester of the Renewable Energies course. This semester, in addition to the Bioenergy and Air Conditioning modules, they will also use the Remote Air Conditioning Laboratory of USP, which is the eastern result of the project and a member of the consortium.
At the same time, three groups of students at UFRJ are participating in the Challenge. The students are developing energy efficiency projects in buildings. One of the groups is working on the energy efficiency project for the Laboratory for the Support of Technological Development (Ladetec-UFRJ). This Laboratory is located in the Chemistry Center of UFRJ, and its mission is to promote the training of qualified personnel (undergraduate and graduate students and researchers) for the development of cutting-edge technology and provision of services in the areas in which it operates. The Laboratory includes other associated laboratories, such as:
– Brazilian Laboratory for Doping Control (LBCD);
– Residue Analysis Laboratory (LAB RES);
– Laboratory of Molecular and Environmental Organic Geochemistry (LAGOA);
– Laboratory of Inborn Errors of Metabolism (LABEIM).
The building currently has high energy consumption, and the students are looking for solutions to reduce this consumption by using renewable sources and energy efficiency of the equipment.
On September 13, this group visited the Ladetec facilities to collect the data needed for the project.
Professor Alberto Hernandez (USP), an expert in energy efficiency and air conditioning, is guiding the students in this project.
The students are fully committed to this EUBBC Digital project. They are excited about the challenge they are facing and about the knowledge they are acquiring in this area.
